ELMIRA HEIGHTS — Gabby Milazzo threw a shutout and the Edison softball team edged Greene 1-0 on Thursday to advance to the Section IV, Class C final.

Edison got a run in the second inning as Mariana Jones-Frosolone walked and she moved to second on a Maddison Pack ground out.

Emily Aiello then followed with an RBI double to score the eventual winning run.

Greene had five hits in the day, but Milazzo and the Edison defense weren’t allowing any runs.

In the opening inning Greene had a one-out single, but the Edison defense turned a double play to end the threat.

In the fourth inning Greene started the inning with a single and with two outs the runner got to third, but Milazzo induced a ground out to end the threat.

Greene had back-to-back singles to lead off the fifth. The runners advanced on the throw on the second hit and it was runners on second and third with no outs.

Milazzo induced a pop out, then Milazzo got a strikeout and a ground out to end the threat.

Greene got a one-out single in the sixth, but again the Spartans defense got a double play to end the threat.

Aiello had the double for Edison and McIver and Brianna Korsky had hits in the game.

Milazzo struck out six and allowed five hits and no runs on the mound.
