COLLEGE MEN'S LACROSSE: CORNING'S GROTTENTHALER EARNS HONORABLE MENTION ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS AS RIT SEEKS 3RD STRAIGHT NATIONAL TITLE (May 16, 2023)
Southern Tier Sports Report Corning graduate Seth Grottenthaler earned honorable mention all-conference honors for an RIT lacrosse team that’s trying to win a third straight national title.
Grottenthaler was sixth on the team in scoring with career-highs in points (37), goals (15) and assists (22) in the regular season.
The junior midfielder is third on the team and tied for eighth in the league in assists.
Grottenthaler had nine assists and 14 points n conference play, including a season-high four assists and five points against St. Lawrence in the regular season finale on April 29.
RIT had nine members of the team named to the Liberty League All-Conference team. They also had the offensive and defensive players of the year and the coaching staff of the year.
The two-time defending NCAA Division III Champions had a bye in the opening round of the tournament and after winning two straight are headed back to the national quarterfinals.
RIT beat Western Connecticut 20-8 and Babson 20-9 in the second and third rounds of the NCAA Tournament. They take on Middlebury at 5 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinals.
Grottenthaler had two goals and an assist against Western Connecticut and a goal and two assists against Babson.
Now the Corning graduate has 18 goals and 25 assists, for 43 points on the year, all-career highs. He’s up to 31 goals and 31 assists for his career. —— PHOTO COURTESY OF RIT ATHLETICS.
