STAC CROSS COUNTRY: CORNING PICKS UP WINS IN TRI-MEET OVER HORSEHEADS AND ELMIRA (24 PHOTOS) (2021-10-12)

BIG FLATS — The Corning boys and girls cross country teams each picked up wins in a tri-meet with Horseheads and Elmira on Tuesday.

The Corning boys won at 21, while Horseheads shot 52 and Elmira had a 65. Corning’s girls scored at 16, followed by Elmira at 58 and Horseheads at 63.

Corning’s Jack Gregorski won in 16:00.6 followed by teammate Ashton Bange in 16:02.5.

Horseheads’ Axl Andrus was third in 16:05.2 followed by teammate Ace Andrus (16:21.9).

Corning took the next six spots with Matt Gensel (16:53.9), Marcus Homa (16:54.6), Tevin McClaren (16:55.1), Josh Beres (17:03.1), DJ Cornfield (17:03.8) and Gabe Cornfield (17:05.5).

Elmira’s was 11th in 17:06.5, followed by teammate Isaac May (17:24.5), Corning’s Nathan Webb (17:28.7) and Haden Allington (17:42.4) and Elmira’s Nasir King (17:47.4).

For the girls Corning’s Bri Urban won in 19:15.5 followed by teammates Faithe Ketchum (19:16.1), Sarah Lawson (19:16.5) and Christina Gaskievicz (19:43.1).

Elmira’s Vicky Mordvinova was fifth in 19:48.9 followed by Corning’s Sadie Beres (20:18.3), Olivia Grinnell (20:22.4) and Ella Grinnell (20:44.5). Elmira’s Payton Ross was ninth in 21:07.1, followed by Corning’s Taylor Farrell (21:22.2) and Meghan McLaughlin (21:31.4).

Horseheads’ Corinne Defillipo was 12th in 21:46.4 followed by Elmira’s Emma Barends (22:03.6) and Christina Peet (22.04.5) and Corning’s Lyndsey Casterline (22:04.2).
