HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: ELMIRA STRIKES FIRST, BUT FALLS TO VESTAL (2023-05-10)
Southern Tier Sports ReportVESTAL — The Elmira Express struck first, but Vestal’s offense came alive late as the Express fell to the Golden Bears 12-2 on Wednesday.
Elmira scored two in the first inning. Vestal got runs in the first and second to tie things. Vestal then got two in the third and a run in the fourth to lead 5-2. A seven-run fifth inning broke things open as Vestal moved to 15-1 on the year.
Hannah Lambert had two hits and an RBI and Mackenzie Fusare had a double and an RBI.
Gracie Knapp, Allie Howe and Addisyn Chorney all had hits for Elmira. Lily Cornacchio scored a run for Elmira.
Ross struck out three in four innings and Madison Smith struck out one in two innings.
Kymora Wang had two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored for Vestal and Kendall Brady had a home run. Wang is a St. Bonaventure commit and Brady is a Holy Cross commit.
