HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: ELMIRA WINS PAIR OF GAMES IN MARY TESTA TOURNEY (24 PHOTOS) (2023-04-29)
Southern Tier Sports ReportWAVERLY — The Elmira softball team picked up a pair of wins at the Mary Testa Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
Elmira won the first game 7-3 over Waverly and the next game 7-4 over Pittsford Sutherland.
Against Waverly the Express had a five-run second inning to pull away.
Lily Scornacchio, Payton Ross, Allie Howe, MacKenzie Fusare, Ryleigh Ogden, Addisyn Chorney and Ava Sherman all had hits for Elmira in the game.
Cornacchio had an RBI and Fusare, Howe, Ogden, Chorney and Sherman all scored runs in the game, with Chorney and Sherman also driving in runs.
Madisen Jones and Abby Lambert had RBI and scored runs in the game and Hannah Lambert had an RBI.
Freshman Madison Smith struck out five and allowed three hits in the game.
Against Pittsford Sutherland the Express scored three runs in the second and two in the fourth to pull away.
Ross was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and Chorney and Sherman each had two hits. Chorney had a double and scored two runs and Sherman had an RBI.
Ogden, Howe and Cornacchio each had doubles in the game. Cornaachio scored in the game and Ogden had an RBI and Howe had an RBI and a run scored.
Jones had a hit and an RBI and Smith had a hit and scored a run.
Ross went the distance on the mound, striking out five.
