ELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Notre Dame softball team scored four runs in the sixth inning to rally for a 5-3 win over Edison on Tuesday.

Notre Dame struck first in the second inning on a Lawson Bigelow solo home run, but Edison scored three runs in the bottom of the second to go ahead 3-1.

In the sixth inning the Crusaders offense got going with two outs. Payton Miller doubled and Olivia Switzer singled to make the game 3-2. Bigelow then was walked and Shannon Maloney tripled home Switzer and pinch runner Layla Sullivan to give the Crusaders the lead. Izzy Griffin then singled home Maloney.

Bigelow had the home run and two intentional walks and Miller had two hits, with the double, and a run scored.

Maloney had the triple, two RBI and a run scored and Ava Mustico, Switzer and Griffin had hits. Switzer had a run and an RBI and Griffin had an RBI.

Switzer went the distance on the mound, striking out nine for the Crusaders. She allowed six hits in the win.

Gabby Milazzo struck out eight for Edison, allowing seven hits in the game.

Emma Maggs had an inside the park home run for Edison and Brianna Korsky had two hits for the Spartans with an RBI.

Milazzo, Maddison Pack and Carissa Cowan had hits for Edison. Cowan had an RBI and a run scored and Pack scored a run.

Notre Dame is now 9-2 on the year, while Edison is 7-2.
