ELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Edison softball team scored eight runs in the third inning on their way to a 14-1 win over Waverly.

Waverly struck first in the top of the first inning as Brinn Cooney hit a home run.

Edison answered with two in the bottom of the first, added eight in the third and six in the fourth on their way to the win.

Emily Aiello ended the game for the Spartans with a three-run home run in the sixth inning to bring on the mercy rule. She had three RBI and two runs in the game.

Brianna Gorsky had three hits and scored two runs and Gabby Milazzo had two hits and drove in two runs, while Emma Maggs had a double and scored a run.

Carissa Cowan, Charlee Stroman, Kailey Ripley, Madison Pack, Maycie Bennett and Madasyn Huffner all had hits for Edison.

Cowan scored a run, Stroman scored two runs, Ripley scored a run, Pack had two RBI and two runs scored, Bennett had an RBI and a run scored and Huffner scored a run.

Milazzo struck out four and allowed seven hits and the one run in the game.
