STSR PRESENTS THE DRAKE HVAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: ELMIRA'S STUKEY AND ND'S SWITZER (April 16, 2023)

There were a lot of great performances this week, leading to some tough choices for the athlete of the week honors. In the end, it was Notre Dame’s Olivia Switzer and Elmira’s Ryan Stukey who are the Southern Tier Sports Report, sponsored by Drake HVAC Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning, Athletes of the Week.

OLIVIA SWITZER
Notre Dame, Softball
Olivia Switzer had three dominant games on the mound and at the plate for the Notre Dame softball team this week.

On the mound she threw 19 innings, allowing three earned runs, while striking out 36 batters. She struck out at least nine batters every game, including 15 against SVEC and 12 against Edison.

At the plate the Crusaders senior was 5-for-9 with a double, a triple, and five runs scored.

RYAN STUKEY
Elmira, boys’ lacrosse
The Express senior had a six goal, and eight point game against Seton Catholic to cap off a 20-point week for the Express.

Stukey had six goals and two assists in a win over Seton Catholic.

On the week the junior had 14 goals and six assists for the Express.
