HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: CORNING HITS TWO HOME RUNS, MOVES TO 5-0 ON THE SEASON (2023-04-12)

JOHNSON CITY — The Corning softball team moved to 5-0 on the season as they hit two home runs in a 13-5 win over Johnson City on Wednesday.

The Hawks scored runs in each of the first four innings. They led 6-4 after two innings and then aded five runs the next two innings to pull away.

Maddie Dibble had a home run, two hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Sophia Polzella hit her second home run of the season and had two RBI and two runs scored.

Payton Sullivan had four hits, a double and a triple, two RBI and two runs scored and Lauren DeRosa had two hits, with a double and a triple, and two runs scored.

Daphne Sherman had a double and a triple and two RBI with a run scored and Lily MacNeal scored two runs, Courtney Searfoss and Kendall Curreri each scored runs for Corning.

Sullivan went six innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven. Anya Beres struck out one in one inning of one-hit relief.

Corning is at Union-Endicott on Friday.
