ELMIRA — The Elmira Express picked up their first win of the season with a 14-5 win over Johnson City on Monday.

Johnson City scored two runs in the top of the first, but Elmira answered with four in the bottom half of the inning.

In the third inning Johnson City tied the game, again the Express answered in the bottom of the inning with three runs.

Johnson City cut the deficit to 7-5 in the top of the fourth, but Elmira scored three in the bottom of the fourth and two in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Mackenzie Fusare had three hits with a double, three runs and an RBI and Lily Cornacchio had two hits, with a double, two RBI and two runs scored, while Hannah Lambert had two hits and an RBI.

Madisen Jones had a double and four RBI and Addison Chorney had a double and scored three runs.

Abby Lambert had a hit and Ava Sherman had a hit and scored two runs, while Madison Smith had a hit and scored a run.

Gracie Knapp scored a run and Payton Ross scored a run, while Allie Howe had an RBI and a run scored.

Hannah Lambert threw three innings, struck out four and allowed two hits.

Smith threw four innings, striking out seven and allowing one hit and one unearned run.
