HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: SWITZER THROWS 2-HITTER, MUSTICO AND BIGELOW HOMER AS ND OPENS WITH WIN (2023-04-06)
Southern Tier Sports ReportPIGEON FORGE, TENN. — The Notre Dame softball team started the season with a 10-0 win over Virginia High School on Thursday.
After a pair of scrimmages during their trip to Tennessee, the Crusaders got a two-hit shutout by Olivia Switzer in the win on Thursday.
Switzer struck out 11 and walked none in the win.
Lawson Bigelow and Ava Mustico each hit home runs for Notre Dame in the game.
Mustico was 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored and Bigelow hit a solo home run.
Payton Miller had two hits, an RBI and a run scored and Layla Sullivan had two hits and scored two runs. Shannon Maloney had two hits and scored a run.
Switzer, Mega Agan, Maddie Fargo and Reagan Burge all had hits. Switzer had an RBI, Again had an RBI and scored a run and Burge scored a run.
Notre Dame had beaten Baldwinsville 5-4 and fell to Taft 5-2 in their scrimmages.
Switzer had a triple, and three hits, against Baldwinsville and Maloney had two hits. AGan, Izzy Griffin, Fargo, Miller and Mustico all had hits in the game. Switzer struck out 14 on the mound.
Against Taft the Crusaders got hits from Maloney and Griffin and Switzer struck out six on the mound.
