HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: HORSEHEADS DROPS PAIR TO OPEN SEASON IN MYRTLE BEACH (2023-04-03)

MYRTLE BEACH — The Horseheads softball team dropped a pair of teams to out of state teams in Myrtle Beach on Monday to open the season.

Horseheads fell to McLean High School, out of Virginia, 7-1, and then they fell 5-0 to Spring Valley High School out of West Virginia.

Against McLean the Blue Raiders got a triple from Megan Wolf, with a run scored and a hit and RBI from Molly Wolf as Molly drove home her sister for the lone run.

Caitlin Yearick and Olivia French had hits for Horseheads.

Megan Wolf struck out two in two innings and Emily Huntley threw three innings of two-hit relief, allowing one run and one walk with one strikeout.

Lacey Baker threw a scoreless inning.

In the game against Spring Valley the Blue Raiders got a hit from Maddie Matkosky.

Matkosky struck out two in five innings on the mound and Baker threw a perfect inning of relief.
