HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' GOLF: HORSEHEADS OPENS SEASON WITH WINS, CORNING 7TH GRADER EARNS MEDALIST HONORS (2023-03-28)

BIG FLATS — The defending sectional champion Horseheads girls’ golf team opened the year with a win in a quad meet at Willowcreek on Tuesday, while Corning seventh grader Delaney Abel earned medalist honors on the day.

Horseheads shot 184 on the day, Corning was second at 204, followed by Waverly at 223 and Watkins Glen at 287.

Horseheads got a 43 from Brooklyn Moffe and a 44 from Olivia Hatch. Ava Fairbrother shot a 48 and Maddy Weigand shot a 49, while Delaney Cook had a 57 and Sophie Hulslander shot a 60.

Abel had a 41 in her first varsity match to earn medalist honors for Corning and Molly Creath shot a 51, while Katie Creath shot a 54.

Amanda Hall shot a 58, Gwynn Herman shot a 60 and Emma Frost had a 63.

Waverly got a 48 from Breanne Robinson and Maddie Farhnam and Addison Hunt each shot rounds of 58 on the day.

Lauryn DeLill shot a 59 and Natalie Lauper shot a 60, while Sophia Sileo shot a 68.

Watkins Glen got a 60 from Haley Tuttle and Aliyah Clink-Bentley shot a 71. Ava Maylsa and Callie Tohafjian each shot 78 and Grace Weed shot an 86.
