HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' GOLF: PLENTY OF NEW FACES AS CORNING PREPARES TO OPEN SEASON (2023-03-28)

Southern Tier Sports Report
There will be a lot of new faces for the Corning Hawks girls’ golf team as they kick off their season at Willowcreek today against Waverly and Horseheads.

CORNING HAWKS GIRLS’ GOLF
Major Losses -
Lucia Chen (Defending Sectional Champ), Hannah Masaki (State Tournament Participant)
Key Returners - Senior Molly Creath and Sophomore Erika Giaconia
Molly and Erika made major contributions to last year's team.  Corning finished 2nd place at last year's team Sectionals, thanks to the effort of both of these young ladies.  They have been very dedicated athletes to the program and after a lot of hard work this summer I am excited to see them back out on the course.  These ladies are highly motivated and have set pretty lofty goals for themselves.
Key Newcomers: Delaney Abel - Delaney is a 7th grade student who has tons of potential.  This past summer she participated in the New York State Women's Junior Am, and just recently, she qualified for the Women's Junior Championships down in Georgia.  Delaney is highly skilled and even though she is only a 7th grader, we are expecting her to make a major impact across Section IV this season.
Emma Frost/Gwyneth Herman - Emma and Gwynn are both Juniors who have joined the Golf team this year.  Although they are new participants with Coach Clark, they come with a lot of golfing experience.  Both of these ladies are expected to make an immediate impact for the Hawks.  It is always nice to add players to the program that want to learn and grow, but when you have the chance to add experienced players to your program, that is a major victory from Day 1.
