HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: EDISON EXCITED FOR NEW YEAR AS THEY KICK OFF SEASON AT WATKINS GLEN (2023-03-28)

Southern Tier Sports Report
The Edison softball team is ready for a new season as they take to the road to kick off the year.

The Spartans open the season at Watkins Glen and they have a strong group of returning players this year, as well as some new faces.

EDISON SOFTBALL
Coaches name:
Liz Warren
Assistants: Kate Warren, Pat Moffe, Todd Seelye
Record last year: 12-8
Returning athletes: All!
Comments on returning athletes: Seniors, Maliyah McIver and Madasyn Huffner, will be assets to our outfield. I look forward to seeing their speed in the field and power at the plate. We also return two strong pitchers in juniors Gabby Milazzo and Mariana Jones. With their work in the off-season, I think they'll pose some great challenges to opposing teams this year. Juniors Emma Maggs, Brianna Korsky, and Maddison Pack are also back this season. I look forward to seeing them pose a threat at the plate and continue to grow into confident leaders in their respective positions. Finally, we return a strong sophomore crew in Emily Aiello, Kailey Ripley, Bella Moffe, Charlee Stroman, and Maycie Bennett. You really can't put a price tag on a team that has played most of their careers together and these girls epitomize that. I look forward to seeing all they will achieve in their second varsity season and beyond.
Newcomers: Freshman Carissa Cowan and sophomore Lulu Albertalli
Thoughts on newcomers: Carissa and Lulu have shown great potential so far! I think they are a perfect fit for our team and will prove this season that they're players to watch out for.
Thoughts on the team this year: I think our youth last year will prove to be a strength this year. We are in a unique and welcomed position in which we are returning all 12 players from last season. I am looking forward to seeing our team continue to grow into a family and work together to achieve the goals they've set. I feel confident in their strengths and cannot wait for them to take this season to show what Edison softball is all about.
Thoughts on the league this year: I think Section 4 and the IAC produce some of the strongest softball around. We are looking forward to being challenged within our schedule and setting our sights even higher than last year. It will be a season of competitive softball, for sure!
