HORSEHEADS BLUE RAIDERS GIRLS’ LACROSSE
Coaches name: Jennifer Guzylak
Assistant: Samantha Owen
Record last year: 13 – 5
Returning athletes: 6 Seniors, 2 Juniors and 1 sophomore
Comments on returning athletes: We had 7 seniors last year so our returning athletes will have to step-up and fill their roles. They are excited for our season and will be great role models for our younger girls.
Newcomers: We have a young team this year. We have several girls coming up from our JV team. They are excited for the challenge to play at the varsity level.
Thoughts on newcomers: Our newcomers have a lot of potential. They are hard-working athletes who come to practice every day ready to work as a team and get better.
Thoughts on the team this year: I am excited about our team this year. Overall, we are a young team and inexperienced at the Varsity level. However, most of the girls have been playing lacrosse since youth league. They are coming together as a team and are supportive of each other at practice. I am looking forward to seeing them improve during the course of our season.
Thoughts on the league this year: We will have some challenging games in our league again this year as usual. Other teams will have younger players as well so we will have some competitive games. We have some road trips for Non-league games this year against some established teams (HFL, PY, Fulton).
Any former athletes you have who are competing in college right now: Avery Snyder – Coastal Carolina University; McKenna Woodworth – Gannon University; Lauren Squires – Gannon University; Steph VonRiper – Mercyhurst University; Abby Christmas – St. Anslem College; Michaela Elston – Virginia Wesleyan University; Emma Kamas — Daemen College.
