Southern Tier Sports Report
DANBURY, CT – Alfred University’s Brewster Marshall (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) has been named to the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Second Team on Tuesday.

Marshall, an MBA student at AU, was the only player from the Empire 8 to earn a spot on the lists. He closes out his stellar career with 1,452 points, averaging 13.7 a game. He totaled 773 rebounds for an average of 7.3 a game. Marshall made 559 field goals with 107 of them being 3-pointers and he shot 74.7% from the free throw line, hitting 227-of-304 shots. He ended his career with 153 blocks, 133 assists and 82 steals.

“I'm happy for Brewster that he received some additional recognition for an outstanding season,” Head Coach Erich Kaempffe said. “I'm not sure where our program would have been without him. He means so much to us and led us to one of the single best seasons ever at Alfred University this year. He is undoubtedly one of the best players to ever play at AU and I'm so glad I got work with him for his last two years.”

Marshall was a member of the 2018-19 Empire 8 Championship team and earned All-Empire 8 all four years the end-of-year honor was offered. He is second all-time in Alfred University history for earning Empire 8 Weekly Awards with nine, with three of those being Rookie of the Week honors. He also ranks near the top of Saxon of the Week honors with 11.

Marshall ended the year on a high note, helping the Saxons clinch the 2022-23 ECAC Division III Men’s Basketball title with a home win over Alvernia and was on the All-Tournament Team as the ECAC Championship Most Valuable Player.

On the year, he totaled a career-high 470 points, a career-high 223 rebounds (career-high 164 defensive rebounds), a career-high 180 field goals made, a career-high 54 3-pointers, a career-high 47 assists and tied his career-high in blocks with 38. Marshall was 82nd in the county in total blocks and was Top-150 in nine other statistical categories as he helped the Saxons finish the year as the 34th-ranked team in the country in terms of scoring defense, only allowing 64.7 points per game.

Marshall’s collegiate athletic career is not over as he joined the Saxons’ men’s lacrosse team as they now bolster a 4-2 record to start the year.
