CPP RIVER HAWKS SWIMMERS SHINE AT NIAGARA GOLD CHAMPIONSHIP MEET (9 PHOTOS) (2023-03-14)

BUFFALO — The Corning-Painted Post River Hawks had a strong showing this past weekend in Buffalo at the Niagara Gold Championship meet at the ECC Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center.

Many cut times were made to the next two levels of National swim meets — Speedo Sectionals at Ithaca College March 23-26 and Future Champions at SwimRVA in Richmond, Virginia July 26-28.

There were 18 swimmers from the CPP River Hawks competing in the meet.

Cullin Cole took first place in the 50 free in 21.04, with a Future Champions cut time. He is the second Niagara Champion for the CPP River Hawks, the first was Angie McKane in March 2019 in the girls’ 11-12 100 IM (1:07.85).

In the 50 free Katherine McKane was 34th in 25.95, Carolyn Heckle was 39th in 26.17, Kaden TenEyck was 30th in 22.83, Aiden Spoors was 47th in 23.38, Caden Faulk was 49th in 23.39, Cyrus Law was 71st in 24.44 and Aidan Wilken was 75th in 24.61.

Cal Bartone took second in the 100 breast in 57.03 with a Future Champions cut time. Shoonfon Li was 10th in 1:00.28 with a Speedo Sectionals Cut time.

TenEyck was 36th in 1:05.81, Shawn De Pedro was 45th (1:07.96) and Joey Crisco was 49th (1:08.93).

Angie McKane was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.75, a Future Champions cut time, and Katherine McKane was 10th in 1:09.57.

Li was second in the 400 IM in 4:05.40 with a future champions cut time and and Katherine McKane was eighth in 4:51.74.

Li took third in the 200 back in 1:51.95, a future champions cut time.

Angie McKane was third in the 100 with a 51.85, a future champions cut time, and Bartone was 19th in 48.72, a Speedo Sectionals cut time.

TenEyck was 29th in 49.79, Katherine McKane was 36th in 56.59, Spoors was 46th (50.82), Heckle was 73rd (59.91), De Perdo waas 84th (54.71), Wilken was 88th (55.59) and Crisco was 91st in 56.14.

Li was fourth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:07.98, a Future Champions cut time, and Katherine McKane was eighth in 2:29.23, a Speedo Sectionals cut time. Crisco was 31st in 2:27.5 and Thai Tran was 39th in 2:32.21.

Li was sixth in the 100 back in 53.84, a Speedo Sectional cut time and TenEyck was 28th in 57.10. Faulk was 41st in 59.42, Alex Peng was 54th in 1:01.78 and Law was 56th in 1:01.91. Kegan Monahan was 61st in 1:02.62 and Marvin Reimsnyder was 62nd in 1:02.77 with Kara Peters 62nd in 1:10.08 and Angie McKane was third in the prelims in 56.37, a Future Champions cut time.

Li was 10th in the 200 free in 1:45.66, a Speedo Sectional cut time. Kara Peters was 47th in 2:07.87 and Spoors finished in 1:53.64. Angie McKane was fourth in the prelims in 1:54.51, a Speedo Sectional Cut Time and Cole was ninth in the prelims in 1:46.28, a Speedo Sectional cut time.

In the 200 IM Katherine McKane was fifth and had a time of 2:17.09 in the prelims. Cole was 19th in 2:04.59 and TenEyck was 49th in 2:10.64. Reimsnyder was 62nd in 2:15.51 and Crisco was 64th in 2:15.71. Peng was 66th in 2:16.96 and Monahan wa 72nd in 2:22.78.

Cole was 30th in the 100 fly in 55.54 and Reimsnyder was 46th in 58.34.

De Pedro was 32nd in the 200 butterfly in 2:33.24 and Spoors was 20th in the 500 free in 5:07.38. Faulk was 39th in the 100 IM in 1:02.02 and Law was 50th in 1:02.36 and Heckle was 74th in 1:11.36.

The men’s 400 freestyle relay team of Reimsnyder, Spoors, TenEyck and Cole was 12th in 3:19.25 and Tran, Law, Wilken and Faulk took 21st in 3:35.39.

The women’s 400 medley relay team of Peters, Katherine and Angie McKane and Heckle took sixth in 4:13.61.

The men’s 400 medley relay team of Faulk, TenEyck, Cole and Spoors was 14th in 3:50.48 and Reimsnyder, Peng, Monahan and Wilken took 24th in 4:08.19.

In the women 200 free relay Peters, Heckle, Katherine and Angie McKane took eighth in 1:42.06 and Monahan, Reimsnyder, TenEyck and Cole took 13th in the men’s 200 free relay in 1:31.31.

Peng, Spoors,Wilken and Faulk took 19th in the 200 free relay in 1:35.19 and in the men’s 200 medley relay Tran, Cole, Spoors and TenEyck took 15th in 1:41.74, while Faulk, Crisco, Reimsnyder and Wilken took 22nd in 1:48.71.

14-and-under swimmers will be competing at the Niagara Gold 14-and-under championship meet this weekend in Webster, N.Y.
