ELMIRA — Corning graduate Jordan Haggard was back in the area over the weekend, helping to lead Nazareth to an 88-41 win at Elmira College.

With the win Nazareth moves to 15-3 on the year, 9-2 in the Empire 8. Elmira is 3-15 and 2-9 in the conference.

Haggard had five points and six rebounds, along with an assist and a steal. He was 2-for-5 from the field in the game.

Haggard is having a breakout season for Nazareth this year. He is averaging 11.6 points a game in 17 games, with eight starts. He averages four rebounds on the season.

This year Haggard has more points than he did the previous three seasons. Last year he played in 14 games with one start, averaging 3.5 a game and the previous season he started all 12 games in the Covid shortened year, scoring 8.7 points a game.

Prior to this season Haggard had 167 points in his career, he has 197 points so far this year.

Haggard has a career high of 23 points this year, against Utica. He has a season-high of eight rebounds, against Keuka.

Eight times this year Haggard has scored in double figures. Including 40 points combined in back-to-back games against Utica and Saige.

Earlier this year he had a three-game stretch of double-figure games with 21 against Clark, 17 against Keuka and 16 against Medaille.

Nazareth plays Utica again tomorrow at Utica.

In the win over Elmira the Golden Flyers were led by Solomon McFarlane (12 points), Jaylen Savage (11) and Logan Blankenberg (10 points).

Tyler Cordello led Elmira with eight points and Anthony Marc Artuz, David Aysho and William Peaks all had six points in the game.
