HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: ON EMOTIONAL NIGHT EDISON GIRLS GET CAREER HIGH 33 FROM LITTLEFIELD TO TOP O-M (24 PHOTOS) (January 10, 2023)

Southern Tier Sports Report
Elmira Heights — The Edison girls basketball team got career-high 33 points from Payton Littlefield as they picked up a 54-34 win over Odessa-Montour on Tuesday.

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Odessa-Montour as standout Keyonna Garrison suffered a stroke a week ago and was recovering at Strong Memorial Hospital before being released on Tuesday.

“It’s a really tough situation for OM right now with everything going on with Keyonna,” Edison coach Chris Mallette said. “I give their girls a ton of credit for battling through and playing super hard.”

For Edison the win gets them back to .500 this year.

“Glad we were able to get the win and get back to .500,” Mallette said. “Payton Littlefield set a new career high with 33 points tonight. Gianna McGee and Harper Hoffmann have both put together a few strong games in a row. If we continue to get strong contributions from those three then we are going to be a really tough out the rest of the way.”

Littlefield had seven threes on the day. She had three threes in the fourth. She had 18 second-half points in the game.

Hoffmann finished with 13 points in the game and McGee had four points, while Charlee Stroman and Maycie Bennett had two points each.
