Southern Tier Sports Report
The Corning boys and girls soccer teams play in regional finals, while the Corning volleyball team plays for a sectional title, while swimming and diving competes in the sectional finals on a busy day of postseason action.

GIRLS’ SOCER
REGIONAL FINAL AT WAVERLY
CORNING VS. MONROE-WOODBURY, 2 P.M.

The Hawks are the Section 4 champion, ranked 27th in the state, and they take on Monroe-Woodbury, the Section 9 champion, ranked sixth in the state. Monroe-Woodbury is 14-2-1 on the season, while Corning enters with a record of 6-6 on the season.

BOYS’ SOCCER
REGIONAL FINAL
AT YORKTOWN H.S.
CORNING VS. SCARSDALE, 11:30 A.M.

The Hawks, ranked 11th in the state and the Section 4 champion, take on Scarsdale, the Section 1 champion, ranked No. 1 in the state rankings. Corning is 15-1-1 on the year, with both their loss and tie coming to Vestal, ranked fourth in the state in Class A. Scarsdale is 18-0 on the season.

VOLLEYBALL
SECTIONAL FINAL
ITHACA AT CORNING, 6 P.M.

The seconded seeded Hawks face the top-seeded Little Red in the sectional final. The volleyball finals are all at Corning Painted-Post this year. The two teams met twice this year, with Ithaca winning the matchup at Corning 3-2, and the matchup at Ithaca 3-0.

CLASS C
NOTRE DAME AT WATKINS GLEN, 11:30 A.M.

The Crusaders are at Watkins Glen for the sectional finals. They don’t have any swimmers seeded first in their event after the prelims, but Allie O’Brien was second in two events in the prelims.

CLASS A
HORSEHEADS, CORNING, ELMIRA AT WATKINS GLEN, 3:30 P.M.

The Hawks, Blue Raiders and Express all head to Watkins Glen for the sectional finals. Horseheads and Corning both have multiple swimmers seeded first after the prelims.
