HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: LOCALS SET TO START PLAY AT BCANY HOOPS FESTIVAL (2022-08-05)

Play begins in the BCANY Summer Hoops Festival Friday as four area athletes will compete between the boys and girls teams.

The boys play Hudson Valley at 7 p.m. on Friday and Buffalo at 8:30 p.m. The 7 p.m. game is at Johnson City Elementary School and the 8:30 p.m. game is at the high school.

Saturday they play Nassau at 11 a.m. at the elementary school and they play Capital at 2 p.m. at the high school.

Sunday’s schedule is to be determined after the first two days.

The girls play Friday against Central at 4 p.m. at the Johnson City Middle School and at 7 p.m. at the high school against North Country.

The girls face Buffalo at 2 p.m. at the middle school and they take on Mid-Hudson at 5 p.m. at the high school.

The boys team includes Horseheads’ Amauri and Jeremy Truax. The team is coached by Owego coach Chris Evans.

The girls team includes Payton Littlefield of Edison and Jalea Abrams of Elmira. The coaches are Chad Freije of Susquehanna Valley, Luke McEvoy of Owego and Andrew Kalet of Union Springs.
