TRAVEL BASKETBALL: EL-TOWN ELITE MAKES THREE FINALS, MODIFIED TEAM WINS TITLE (2022-07-05)

Southern Tier Sports Report
The El-town Elite made it to three championships and walked away with one title.

The team was in a tourney in Macedon called Ballin 4 pride II and the 4th-6th grade boys played in a 6-8th grade bracket and made it to the chip but lost to a 7th/8th grade Finger lakes fury team. they have been playing up all year and out of 5 tournaments they made it to 4 championship games but came up short in all of them by single digits. For the coaches the work they put in this year means a lot more than winning the chips because the heart and grit they showed all year playing against kids bigger (our biggest is 5’ 1”) and older is unmatched. They went 1-1 on Saturday beating the FL Fury 6th/7th team and losing to the 7th/8th grade Fury team. Sunday they beat the 6th/7th Fury team to make it to the chip to play the 7th/8th grade team again and came up short 39-31. The team was lead by Darien (Baby) Harris (6th grade) who averaged 18 ppg, Eli Morrell (5th) who averaged 7 ppg, and Kendrick Bell (4th) at 6 ppg but every kid played a part in getting to the chip.  It also consists of Aaron Stowe Jr. (4th grade) J.T. Morrell (4th) Caleb Marshall (7th) Caleb Hills (4th) Tre’Jean Woodard (5th) Gianni Page (6th) Karson Combs (6th) and Hasani Amberslie(6th).

The modified team played up as well in a ninth-grade bracket and went undefeated beating FL Fury 9th/10th, Canisteo Moran, and WNY rebels with help from two ninth graders that normally play up on the 10th grade team. El-Town won the chip by a score of 61-41 against WNY Rebels. That team consists of Khi’zhere Torres (8th grade), Karim Woodard (8th), Owen Janowski (7th), Caleb Marshall (7th), Julian Coloń(8th), Lucas Hills (8th), Jhamique Bell(9th), Mekai Daniels(9th), Cameron Smith (9th), Byron Hall jr. (9th), Darien (Baby) Harris (6th), Daeshaun (Dash) Harris (8th), James (Brotha) Harris III (9th). Scoring was lead by Byron Hall Jr. with 16 ppg, James Harris III 12 ppg, and Julian Coloń & Baby Harris tied with 8 ppg.

The 10th grade team also made it to the finals but lost in the championship to Dev squad out of Rochester for the title. All teams are coached by Jose Lopez, Jordan Harris, James Harris Jr., and Nyheim Brown.
