TRAVEL SOCCER: LOCALS SHINE AS SOARING CAPITAL AMBITION WINS HOME FINALE (24 PHOTOS) (2022-06-18)
Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA — The Soaring Capital Ambition Team (03/04) wrapped up their home season with a 5-2 win over the Rochester Lancers at Ernie Davis Academy on Saturday morning.
Sam Romanosky, of Maine-Endwell, scored three goals in the game to lead the Soaring Caps and Corning’s Micah Cornfield and Carter McCreary, a Horseheads graduate, had goals in the game.
Horseheads’ Nate Tenbus had three assists in the game.
Corning graduate, and current Lafayette goalie Griffin Huff, got the win in goal.
The lineup for the Soaring Capitals also includes Corning goalie Liam Bayne and Noah Hunkele, who plays for Brockport College. Horseheads graduate Kevin Reasons played in the game and Elmira’s Talon Wise, Max Moshier and Anthony Manzari are also among the players who played in the win on Saturday.
There are a number of other local players who also play for the Soaring Capitals Ambition this summer which include Aaron Verkleeren and James Haberstroh of Horseheads, Eric Ryck of Elmira College, Jahmier Klee of Elmira and Shane Heifferon of Elmira and Trevor Howard of Horseheads, along with Kytrell Stroman of Elmira and Steffen Kercher of Corning. Hunter Romeo of Horseheads and Russell Wright of Elmira also play for the team this year.
