COLLEGE BASEBALL: CORNING GRAD HENNEMAN HOMERS FOR CANISIUS IN NCAA TOURNEY GAME AGAINST MIAMI (2022-06-05)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCorning graduate Trevor Henneman had a big moment on a big stage on Saturday night in the NCAA baseball championships.
Playing in a regional game against Miami, the catcher hit a solo home run in the second inning to give Canisius a 3-1 lead.
Canisius led 2-0 and 4-1 in the game, but in the end Miami, the No. 7 overall seed in the tournament, scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh and three in the eighth to come away with the win after Miami tied the game with three runs in the third.
Canisius, 29-24 on the year, gave Miami, 40-18, everything they could handle early with two runs in the first and two more in the second inning.
Henneman had two hits, an RBI and a run scored in the game for the Griffins.
Canisius plays Arizona at 11 a.m. today in an elimination game in the tournament.
