ELMIRA HEIGHTS — For almost 25 years Edison baseball coach Mike Bennett has ended each season with the Spartan seniors rounding the bases on their home field one last time.

The tradition continued this week, but with a bit of a twist as it was Bennett who made the last trip around the field.

Bennett announced during the season he would be stepping down at the end of the season to spend more time with his family.

Led by the Spartans seniors, Edison varsity and JV players gathered, along with former player and Bennett’s family on the field. Friends and supporters looked on and to continue the tradition they cheered hi on as he rounded the bases one more time.
