SECTION 4 SOFTBALL: EDISON GETS STRONG PITCHING FROM MILAZZO, BUT FALLS TO TOP-SEEDED GREENE (12 PHOTOS) (2022-05-24)

GREENE — The Edison softball team got a strong pitching performance from Gabby Milazzo, but in the end their season came to a close with a 4-0 loss to top seeded Greene in the Section 4, Class C quarterfinals.

Greene ace Olivia Kennedy struck out 15 in a two-hit shutout and she had two hits, with a double in the game. Payton Yahner hit a home run for Greene in the game, who is undefeated on the season and ranked No. 2 in the state.

Milazzo limited Greene to just seven hits and four runs, three earned, striking out three.

Greene scored two first-inning runs, keyed by Yahner’s inside the park home run and Greene had two third-inning runs.

Kailey Ripley and Milazzo had the hits for Edison in the game for the Spartans, who also drew three walks in the contest.

The best scoring chance for Edison came in the seventh inning. Milazzo walked and after Kennedy got a strikeout for Green, Charlee Stroman drew a walk for the Spartans to put two runners on. But, Kennedy then struck out the next two batters to end the threat.
