H.S. BASEBALL & SOFTBALL: SECTION 4 PLAYOFF BRACKETS SET (2022-05-17)

Southern Tier Sports Report
The matchups are set and the brackets are out for the Section 4 baseball and softball playoffs.

The Corning softball team is the top seed in Class AA and the Horseheads baseball team is the top seed in Class AA.

The Notre Dame baseball team is the top seed in Class C.

All 10 baseball and softball teams from Corning, Horseheads, Elmira, Notre Dame and Edison made it to districts.


SOFTBALL
In Class AA the Corning Hawks are the top seed at 18-1 on the year.

Horseheads (9-7) is the second seed and Elmira (7-10) is the third seed. Horseheads and Elmira play on Wednesday, May 25 at 4:30 p.m. at Horseheads. The winner plays against Corning at BAGSAI on Saturday, May 28.

In Class C the Notre Dame softball team is seeded third at 16-4 on the year. The Crusaders have an opening-round bye and then on Tuesday, May 24 at 4:30 p.m. they host the winner of No. 6 Sidney and No. 11 Bainbridge-Guilford.

Edison is the eighth seed. They open with a home game against Southern Cayuga, the ninth seed, this Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Greene (18-0) is the top seed in Class C and Union Springs (14-1) is the second seed.
BASEBALL
The Horseheads Blue Raiders are the top see in Class AA with a 16-4 mark.

Corning is the second seed (14-4) and Elmira (8-9) is the third seed. Corning opens at home against Elmira in the semifinals on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

The winner of Corning and Elmira faces Horseheads on Monday, May 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Horseheads in the first game of a best-of-three championship series.

The second game of the best of three is at the lower seed on Wednesday, May 25 at 4:30 p.m. and then if necessary the third game is Friday, May 27 at Horseheads.

In Class C the Notre Dame baseball team (15-4) is the top seed. They have a bye and then they open play on Monday, May 23 at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of No. 8 Union Springs and No. 9 Newark Valley.

Edison is the fifth seed (10-5-1) and they are at No. 4 Trumansburg (11-6) on Monday, May 23 at 4:30 p.m.
