COLLEGE SOFTBALL: HORSEHEADS' COOK, MISSOURI SOFTBALL SET TO HOST NCAA REGIONAL (2022-05-16)

Southern Tier Sports Report
Horseheads graduate Kendal Cook is headed to the NCAA Tournament as the Missouri softball team will host an NCAA regional for the second straight year.

Missouri, 36-20, were given the 15th overall seed after reaching the SEC title game this year. It’s the 12th overall time Missouri will host a regional.

Joining the Tigers in the Columbia Regional field is Illinois, Arizona and Missouri State.

Missouri will open play on Friday at 1 p.m. at Mizzou Softball Stadium against in-state foe Missouri State.

Cook has played in 27 games this year. While she hasn’t had an at-bat, she’s had a big impact for the Tigers, scoring 13 runs on the season. Cook has stolen two bases on the year.

The Tigers will look to reach the Women’s College World Series for the seventh time in program history. Missouri’s last appearance came in 2011 when the Tigers were the ninth overall seed.
