H.S. SOFTBALL: EDISON PLAYS ROLE OF SPOILERS WITH WIN OVER SVE (2022-05-10)

Southern Tier Sports Report
Elmira Heights — The Edison softball team played the role of spoilers on Tuesday afternoon as they beat Spencer Van-Etten 5-3.

With a win Spencer Van-Etten would have forced a one-game playoff against Tioga for the small-school divisional title.

However, the Spartans had other plans. Down 1-0 after one inning, Edison scored a run in the second to tie things.

Spencer went up 2-1 after the top of the third, but Edison scored two in the third to lead 3-2.

Spencer scored in the fourth to tie things, but in the sixth the Spartans got the victory with two runs.

In the sixth Maddison Pack singled and moved to second on a fielder’s choice. A Madasyn Huffner triple scored Pack with the winning run and Emily Aiello hit a ground ball that scored Huffner.

Huffner had three hits, with a triple, an RBI and a run scored and Mariana Jones had a triple and scored a run.

Gabby Milazzo had a double and two RBI and Kailey Ripley had a double and scored a run.

Brianna Korsky, Maliyah McIver and Pack all had hits in the game.

Bella Moffe and Charlee Stroman both scored runs in the game and Aiello had an RBI.

Milazzo struck out six in the complete game, allowing five hits and three runs, none earned.
