STAC SOFTBALL: MOLLY WOLF HITS GRAND SLAM TO HELP HORSEHEADS RALLY PAST ITHACA (2022-05-10)
Southern Tier Sports ReportHORSEHEADS — Molly Wolf hit a grand slam to help the Horseheads softball team rally for a 7-4 win over Ithaca on Tuesday.
Down 4-1 after three innings, the Blue Raiders got a run in the fourth and then Wolf’s grand slam highlighted a five-run bottom of the sixth inning in the win.
Wolf had the grand slam and Maddie Matkosky had two hits and scored a run in the game.
Olivia Packard and Rachel Lunger each had doubles for Horseheads, both driving in a run in the game.
Belle Giammichele and Grace Perritt had hits for Horseheads in the game, with Perritt driving in a run.
Eva Koratsis and Katie Morse each scored two runs for Horseheads and Carly Scott scored a run in the game.
Matkosky struck out eight in four innings of five-hit pitching, while Kailee West struck out three in two innings of one-hit, shutout ball.
Megan Wolf closed out the game with a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Jenna Blue struck out six in four innings of two-hit ball for Ithaca before leaving the game with an injury.
