CORNING — After Corning led nearly the whole way, Horseheads tied the game with six minutes to go.

The Hawks went right back on the attack and retook the lead two minutes later before tacking on a late goal to down the Blue Raiders 2-1.

Lenhart Jensen started the scoring for Corning just six minutes into the game when the Blue Raiders missed a clear in front of the net.

“Corning had the better of the play in the first half,” Horseheads coach Mark Mucci said. “WE came out and played much better in the second half.”

Jensen started the scoring off an assist from Aidan Crane.

It was Jimmy Haberstroh who tied the game for Horseheads, before Carter Rosno helped the Hawks retake the lead off an assist from Micah Cornfield.

The final goal came with 12 seconds left as Horseheads tried to attack for the equalizer and Jensen found the empty net to cap the scoring.

Corning had 14 shots and eight corner kicks in the game and Horseheads had six shots and three corner kicks.

Caleb Anderson finished with five saves for Corning and Carson Smith had 10 saves for the Blue Raiders.
