H.S. SOFTBALL: CORNING ROLLS TO WIN IN MYRTLE BEACH, DEROSA HAS 4-HIT DAY (2022-04-12)

MYRTLE BEACH — The Corning softball team moved to 4-1 on the year with a 16-6 win over Brevard, out of North Carolina, at the Grand Strand Softball Classic on Tuesday.

The Hawks pounded out 19 hits in the win, with George Mason commit Ellie DeRosa leading the way with four hits on the day.

DeRosa had a double, a triple, three runs scored and three RBI.

Arkansas commit Atalyia Rijo had three hits, with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs scored and Towson commit Kellie Zoerb, Kelsey Booker, Sophia Polzella and Kendall Curreri all had two hits in the game.

Zoerb had a double, two RBI and two runs scored, Booker had a double, an RBI and two runs scored, Polzella had a double, a triple, two RBI and two runs scored and Curreri had two RBI and a run scored.

Olivia Keegan, Payton Sullivan, Molly Moylan and Maddie Dibble all had hits for Corning in the game.

Dibble scored a run, Moylan drove in two runs, Sullivan scored a run and Keegan had two RBI and a run scored.

Corning plays today against Fort LaBeouf out of Pennsylvania.

Sullivan struck out two in 1 1/3 innings and Jillian Austin got two outs without allowing a hit. Daphne Sherman threw one inning of no run ball and Anya Beres struck out one in two innings.
