ELMIRA — The Express ran into the strong pitching of Maine-Endwell’s Olivia Lewis and came up short in their home opener 7-0 on Wednesday.

Lewis threw a one-hitter over six innings striking out 14 in the game.

It was a scoreless game into the third inning when Aleciyah Brodley hit a home run to put the Spartans ahead.

The Spartans scored four more in the fifth inning keyed by a Kaety L’Amoreaux home run.

Addisyn Chorney had a double for Elmira and Madisen Jones had a hit for the Express.

Payton Ross threw six innings for Elmira, allowing six hits and striking out eight. Paige Colbath threw one inning, striking out one.

Brodley and L’Amoreaxu had two hits each for Maine-Endwell.
