Southern Tier Sports Report
HORSEHEADS — It was quite the varsity debut for freshman Megan Wolf as she tossed a no-hitter to lead Horseheads past Union-Endicott 3-0.

“It felt great to come out and do my part to get a team win,” Wolf said. “It really helps my confidence to know I have a solid defense behind me.

“Tonight Liv Packard (our catcher) was a great senior leader helping me through my first start. We also had many great plays in the field.”

Wolf struck out six to pick up her first varsity win.

“We played great defense behind Megan Wolf and she pitched an amazing game,” Horseheads coach Rich Gryska said.

Horseheads got a first-inning run as Maddie Matkosky doubled and scored and they got a pair of runs in the third inning.

In the third Matkosky walked and Olivia Packard hit into a fielder’s choice, moving Matkosky to second.

Eva Koratsis walked and Packard moved to third base and Koratsis took second on a wild pitch.

After an out was recorded Bella Giammichele reached on an error scoring pinch-runner Katie Morse and Koratsis.

Molly Wolf had a pair of hits in the game with an RBI and Carly Scott had a hit in the game, while Matkosky had the double.
