Southern Tier Sports Report
There’s a bit of everything with a busy day of local sports on tap.

There are 13 events on the schedule today, including all four area swim teams hitting the pool, and all four area volleyball teams on the court.

All four volleyball teams are on the road today, while two of the four swim teams are at home.

There is also a big rivalry game on the soccer field. One day after the Horseheads girls edged Corning 1-0, the Horseheads boys team travels to Corning for a game.

Here’s a look at all of today’s events.

BOYS’ SOCCER
HORSEHEADS AT CORNING, 7:30 P.M.: It was a big weekend for Horseheads sports teams as football, the boys’ soccer team and the girls’ soccer team all won their first games in the new stadium. The boys won their game Saturday over Athens 2-0. On Monday the girls won their matchup with Corning. Now, the Blue Raiders meet the Hawks in boys’ soccer action. Corning started the year in dominant fashion, before a loss out of Section 4 and then a loss to Maine-Endwell with a number of players out with injuries. The Horseheads boys are coming off Saturday’s win.

ITHACA AT ELMIRA, 5:30 P.M.: The Elmira boys got their first win last game and will look to make it two in a row as they host Ithaca.

CROSS COUNTRY, 5 P.M.: On Saturday Notre Dame hosted the Crusader Clash at the Murray Athletic Center. Today they play host again, this time to Edison, Dryden and Newark Valley in a quad meet, with the modified beginning at 5 p.m.

SWIMMING AND DIVING
JOHNSON CITY AT CORNING, 5:30 P.M.: The Hawks look to stay unbeaten on the season as they host Johnson City in swimming and diving action.

ELMIRA AT VESTAL, 5:30 P.M.: The Express kick off their season with a road meet at Vestal.

UNION-ENDICOTT AT HORSEHEADS, 5:30 P.M.: The Blue Raiders opened the season with a win last week and now they look for their second straight victory.

NOTRE DAME AT WATKINS GLEN, 4:30 P.M.: The Crusaders swim team has to Watkins Glen in an IAC matchup. Notre Dame is coming off a loss at Waverly where Allie O’Brien was a triple winner.

VOLLEYBALL
CORNING AT MAINE-ENDWELL, 6:30 P.M.: The Hawks hit the road for a STAC matchup. Corning enters the night unbeaten on the season.

HORSEHEADS AT VESTAL, 6:30 P.M.: The Blue Raiders look to stay perfect on the year as they travel to Vestal.

ELMIRA AT UNION-ENDIOCTT, 6:30 P.M.: The Express are 1-1 on the season as they travel to Union-Endicott.

EDISON AT NEWARK VALLEY, 6:30 P.M.: The Spartans have had a tough stretch to start the year facing Tioga and Candor, now they go on the road against the Cardinals.

GOLF
HORSEHEADS AT ITHACA, 4 P.M.: The Blue Raiders hit the road for a golf match at Cornell’s Golf Course.

TENNIS
HORSEHEADS AT ITHACA, 4:30 P.M.: A day after picking up their first win, Horseheads travels to Ithaca in tennis action.
