STAC WRESTLING: ELMIRA PICKS UP VICTORY OVER ITHACA (2022-01-19)

The Elmira wrestling team picked up a 45-24 victory over Ithaca in a STAC matchup on Wednesday.

The Express picked up five first-period pins on the day.

At 102 Quentin Getzin of Ithaca won 9-2 over Liam Ogden of Elmira, before Elmira’s Max Collins pinned Kaleb Chilson in 1:25 at 110.

At 118 Aires Galbraith of Ithaca won 12-6 over Emma Bech to tie the match at six, before Elmira’s Caleb Ostrander pinned Alexander Bazarov in 19 seconds at 126.

Blake Force of Elmira won by fall in 51 seconds over Phoenix Moralas-Vico at 132, before Ithaca’s Ariel Schwartz pinned Jayden Galpin in 1:47 at 138.

George Oroudjov of Ithaca pinned Matthew Brown in 39 seconds at 145, and Ithaca’s Daniel Parker pinned Casen Cry of Elmira in 2:49 at 152 as Ithaca took a 24-18 lead.

Elmira closed out the match with 27 straight points as Sam Brenen-Buseck won a tight 5-4 match over Nick Talbot at 160 to make the team score 24-21 Ithaca.

Elmira then got a pin by Tyler Keefe in 25 seconds over Abdul Alturkestani at 172 to put Elmira ahead 27-24..

Charlie Crowningshield of Elmira won by injury default over John Ranijitsigh at 189 and CJ Brink of Elmira got a forfeit wi at 215, while Ethan Hernandez got a pin at 285 in 1:30 over Ian Demaree.
