Southern Tier Sports ReportCORNING — The Corning Hawks celebrated senior night with a 2-1 overtime victory over Ithaca on Thursday night.
Corning battled back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to earn the win.
Noelle Sonsire scored the equalizer for the Hawks and Roni Nevins scored the game-winner on a direct kick in overtime to seal the win.
“We came out a little flat in the first half, but I was proud of how we responded,” Corning coach Julie Pierce said. “We played with much better energy, moved forward as a team, and created some great opportunities.
“Several players stepped up tonight, and this was a great team win. To come from behind and win in overtime on senior night makes it even more special.”
