EIGHT-MAN FOOTBALL: EDISON STAYS UNBEATEN WITH WIN OVER NEWFIELD (24 PHOTOS) (2026-10-03)

ELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Edison football team stayed unbeaten with a 67-14 win over Newfield on Saturday afternoon. 

“We are excited to get another win,” Edison coach Kyle Erickson said. “The offense was very successful again today. Very proud of the whole team. Everyone worked hard and us coaches wrestled very happy to see everyone get a bunch of playing time today.

“I was very happy to see how well our young players did on the defensive side of the ball once they got on the field. Our special teams really shined today also. It’s great when you open the game with a kickoff return touchdown.”

Connor Lasko returned the opening kickoff for a 40-yard touchdown and Jace Schiller hit Paxton Hoover on the two-point try. 

Newfield scored on a 58-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 8-6 just 1:43 later.

Schiller then scored on a one-yard run at 8:19 and he scored on a five-yard run at 3:20, hitting Hoover on the two-point try. Schiller then hit Lasko with 37 seconds left in the quarter on a two-yard touchdown and Hoover ran in the two-point try.

Newfield scored on a one-yard run and got the two-point try to get within 18-14.

Lasko then caught his second touchdown from Schiller, this one for 63 yards with 5:57 left int he half. Schiller then ran in from 17 yards out and hit Lasko n the two point try at 2:05 of the second quarter. 

Edison got a safety as Daniel Cruz and Michael Grow were in on the tackle with 13 seconds left in the half and Lasko ended the half the same way he started it, with a 60-yard touchdown on the kick return with a second left in the half. 

Schiller had an eight-yard touchdown run at 5:02 of the third quarter and Jimmy Haskins hit Robby Levy on a 58-yard touchdown with 5:03 left in the game and Cruz had the two-point run.

Schiller was 11-for-17 passing for 239 yards and two scores and Haskins was 1-for-1 for 58 yards and a score.

Schiller ran for 79 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries. 

Lasko had six grabs for 170 yards and two scores and Hoover had four grabs for 58 yards, while Levy had the 58-yard touchdown catch and Tanner Buchanan had an 11-yard catch.

Grow had three tackles, one for a loss, and Tim Gleason, Hoover, STroman and Cruz each had three tackles, with Cruz getting one for a loss. Caleb Howard recovered a fumble.
