ATHENS — The Horseheads boys’ soccer team played to a 2-2 tie at Athens on Monday night.

Athens opened the scoring halfway through the first half with a goal by Patrick Umber off an assist by Ben Krissler.

Brayden Spier scored 40 seconds into the second half to draw Horseheads even.

Caden Brennan scored off an assist from Kamdyn Wheeler to put Athens up 2-1, before Mason Earl scored with three minutes left in the game off a Brayden Spier assist to tie the game.

Zach Fisher of Athens made two big saves in the final minutes to preserve the draw.

“We continue to move the ball well and create chances,” Horseheads coach Mark Mucci said. “We continue to move the ball well and create chances. Just need to find the back of the net more often.”
