Southern Tier Sports ReportQUEENSBURY — Corning’s Chris Lawson had a third-place finish at the Queensbury Pre-States Invitational over the weekend.
Lawson, a junior, took third in 15:14.90. Ryan Sykes of Horace Greeley won in 14:53.50.
Corning took eighth as a team at 323 points. East Aurora won at 132. There were 106 teams in the field.
Graham Wightman was 29th in 16:17 and Ashtyn Stark was 35th in 16:28.60.
Elijah Sonner was 62nd in 16:55.60 and Andrew Miller was 71st in 17:05.20. Andrew Wilkerson was 86th in 17:15.20. Charlie Wukovitz was 120th in 17:44.40.
Corning was 19th on the girls side with a 636. Saratoga Springs won at 185. There were 81 girls teams.
Kateland Dininny was 27th in 19:25.40 and Bella Martinec was 31st in 19:30.80. Kai Bronfenbrenner was 76th in 20:34.40 and Mia Owens was 90th in 21:02.30. Hazel Fuchs was 94th in 21:08.50.
Vanessa Topielec was 99th in 21:15.40 and Eleanor Robson was 100th in 21:16.80.
In the Division 1/2 race Corning won at 45, followed by Saratoga Springs at 63.
Kaitlyn Lee was third in 21:22 and Lillian Deuerlein was ninth in 21:56.70 followed by Finley Bloor (21:58.50), Uma Padma Free Thutaram (22:00.30) and Liesel Despain (22:10.30).
In the boys’ Division 1/2 race Corning won at 44, followed by Guilderland at 71.
Evan Soccio was sixth in 17:42.10 and Isaac Ho was seventh in 17:42.80 followed by Connor Harrington in 17:44.70. Thomas VanSlyke was 11th in 18:06 followed by Britton Chapman in 18:07.80. Colten Ketchum was 67th in 19:37.30.
