Southern Tier Sports ReportBYRON — The Corning gymnastics team finished fourth out of six teams on Friday night at MCA Gymnastics with a team total of 125.5.
Penfield-Webster placed first with a team total of 131.975.
Eighth-grader Bryn Kempton took third in the all-around with a 32.75. She was second on the balance beam with an 8.3 and was fourth on the uneven bars with an 80.
Eighth-grader Winifred McConnell was fourth in the floor exercise with a 9.00 and sixth on the beam with a 7.9.
Freshman Samantha Place took fifth on the vault at 8.175 and junior Ella Lamberson was sixth on the uneven bars with a 7.6.
Sophomore Olivia Grover took fourth on the beam with an 8.05 and seventh in the all-around with a personal best of 30.375.
Seventh grader Hannah Kim was sixth on the balance beam with a 7.9.
“It was a great team effort,” Corning coach Rebecca Volpe said. “We have some work to do in the gym this week and we will be back at MCA Gymnastics in Byron, N.Y. next Friday, Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
