Southern Tier Sports ReportVICTOR — The Corning gymnastics team placed third out of six teams on Saturday as they opened the season at the Bright Raven East Gymnastics Club.
Cornign had a team total of 128.025 with Penfield-Webster winning at 133.975.
Eighth-grader Bryn Kempton took second in the all-around with a 33.8. She was second on the uneven bars with an 8.275 and third on the beam with an 8.7. She took seventh on the floor exercise with an 8.925.
Junior Ella Lamberson was eighth in the all-around and sixth in the uneven bars with a 7.7.
Eighth grader Winifred McConnell was sixth on the balance beam with an 8.3 and eighth on the floor with an 8.9.
“The girls had a wonderful first meet,” Corning coach Rebecca Volpe said. “We have some tricks to work on and master for our second meet on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at MCA Gymnastics in Byron. Way to go Hawks.”
