ITHACA — The Corning girls’ soccer team went on the road and played Ithaca to a scoreless tie on Tuesday night.
Both teams created opportunities, but neither was able to find the back of the net.
“Our defense remained composed throughout the game, the goalkeeper, Karina Swarthout, came up with the biggest play of the night late in the second half. With an Ithaca attacker breaking free toward the goal, she made an incredible breakaway save to preserve the 0-0 tie.
“We are getting better each day, and today we showed great defensive discipline, effort and resilience to earn the shutout against a strong Ithaca side.”
