Southern Tier Sports ReportSOUTHPORT — Freshman Benjamin McWhorter threw his first varsity touchdown pass in a 51-7 loss by the Notre Dame football team against Unatego/Franklin/GMU.
Despite the loss McWhorter threw a 45-yard touchdown to Treshawn Jenkins in the game with 2:35 left in the first half. The touchdown got the Crusaders within 26-7 at the half.
McWhorter threw for 98 yards on five competitions and Jenkins had two grabs for 49 yards, while Brenzel McLaurin had two catches for 38 yards. James Lincoln had an 11-yard catch.
Dominic Caporiccio ran for 17 yards in the game and McLaurin ran for 14, while Archer Choi ran for nine yards and Luka Clark had eight yards.
Caporiccio had three returns for 114 yards, with a 44-yard return.
Clark had six tackles, and a tackle for a loss and Tanner Watson had three tackles, two tackles for a loss and a sack.
Jace Ripley had a sack and a tackle and Legend Ruise had six tackles.
