Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA — The Elmira Express scored early on their way to a 2-1 win over Corning in the home opener for the Express on Tuesday.
Reiley Hamilton scored in the first three minutes off a Hailey rolls assist and the Express went up 2-0 early in the second half on a Grace Romeo goal.
Liddy Disbrow scored in the final minute for Corning.
“Elmira came out strong and played a gritty game,” Corning coach Julie Pierce said. “I am proud of my team for playing hard until the final whistle. We will learn from this one and keep getting better.”
Elmira is at Ithaca on Thursday while Corning hosts Horseheads.
