Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Horseheads girls’ tennis team fell to Ithaca 7-0 in the season opener at Cohen Elementary on Tuesday night.
At first singles Ithaca’s Mendsi Zeng won 6-0, 6-0 over Laura Cummings and at second singles Olivia Hao won 6-0, 6-0 over Kaitlyn Soper.
In third singles Andrea Martinez won 6-1, 6-0 over Lydia Mackey and at fourth singles Izzy Kimball won 6-1, 6-2 over Niya Sharma.
In first doubles Yanna Sophcak and Jin Ying Xu won 6-1, 6-0 over Hannah Mattoon and Ella Scibek.
Reshmi Huffman and Sareena Payne won 6-2, 6-1 over Peyton Peterson and Ellie Pagano.
In third doubles Fanta Coulibaly and Kate Breen won 6-3, 6-1 over Addie Pronti and Emily Amey.
