NYSPHSAA BASEBALL: 10 AREA BASEBALL PLAYERS EARN ALL-STATE HONORS; PALMER A FIRST-TEAM PICK (2026-08-12)

Ten area baseball players earned all-state baseball honors with the New York Sportswriters All-State team. 

Senior Aedan Palmer of Elmira highlighted the all-state list with a first-team selection in Class AAA as an outfielder/pitcher. 

Elmira and Horseheads each had four all-state picks and Edison had a pair of picks.

Senior Logan Demember was a second-team pick at shortstop/pitcher and Jack Cavalier and Quinn Hanrahan were both honorable mention. Both players were seniors, with Hanrahan making it as an outfielder and Cavalier as ap itcher/first baseman. 

Palmer was 6-2 on the mound with 85 strikeouts in 51 1/3 innings. He had a 1.50 ERA. He hit .317 with a .463 on-base and had 19 hits, 18 RBI, 18 walks and a home run. He’s a LeMoyne commit.

Demember hit .431 with a .580 on-base. He had 15 RBI, scored 26 runs, had seven doubles, a triple and walked 21 times against just four strikeouts. He had 22 steals. On the mend he was 5-0 with 56 strikeouts in 34 1/3 innings. He had a school-record .41 ERA and two shutouts, including one against Horseheads. He’s an Albany commit.

Cavalier hit .389 with a .520 on-base. He had 23 RBI, 21 hits, five doubles and four home runs. He was 3-2 with a 1.21 ERA and had shutouts against Maine-Endwell and Corning. He had 23 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings. Defensively he had one error in 90 chances, mostly at first base. Hanrahan was an elite defender in centerfield and he hit .339 with a .520 on-base. He had seven doubles, a triple, a home run, 10 RBI, 18 runs, 19 walks and eight steals. He had a perfect fielding percentage in centerfield. 

Cooper Ball of Horseheads was a third/team selection in Class AA as a junior pitcher/first baseman. Junior pitcher/shortstop Mason Markle and sophomore catcher Lyncoln Bennett were fifth-team picks. 

Sophomore second baseman Beckett Doane was an honorable mention pick. 

Ball was 9-2 on the year with a .89 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 71 innings. He hit .416 with 25 RBI, nine doubles, two home runs, a triple, 14 walks and 16 steals. He was The Sports Report Player of the Year. He’s a Binghamton commit. 

Bennett was The Sports Reports Defensive player of the year. He was an elite defensive catcher, who hit .314 with 21 RBI and 12 runs. 

Markle was 8-3 with a .94 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings. Doane hit .354 with six doubles and 10 walks. 

Edison’s Tanner Buchanan made fifth team in Class B as a junior pitcher/infielder and junior outfielder Jace Schiller of Edison made honorable mention all-state. 

Buchanan hit .333 with 11 walks and three doubles and he was 7-3 on the mound with a 2.28 ERA and 90 strikeouts.

Schiller hit .407 with two home runs, nine doubles, three triples, 16 RBI, 13 walks and 18 stolen bases.
