12U LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: PAIR OF CLOSE LOSSES ENDS HORSEHEADS RUN AT SECTIONALS (20 PHOTOS) (2026-07-18)

PAINTED POST — A pair of close losses brought an end to the Horseheads’ Majors All-Star team’s run in the sectional tournament. 

After a 16-12 win over Auburn, in seven innings, on Friday the Horseheads team was looking for a spot in the title game.

Horseheads fell behind early against Maine-Endwell as M-E scored runs in the first and second and added four in the third to go up 6-0.

That’s when Horseheads started to fight back, with three in the fourth, a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to tie the game.

For the second straight game Horseheads went into a seventh inning, but this time Maine-Endwell scored twice in the top of the seventh to win the game. 

Horseheads got two hits from Jesse Schuyler, who scored two runs. JJ Reed had two hits and two RBI and Eli Pirozollo had a hit and two RBI, while Kaidan Rijo had a hit and scored two runs. Eli Hilliard had a hit and an RBI and Liam Knapp had a hit and an RBI.

Max Marsh had a hit and Brantley White and Johnny Wheeler each scored runs in the game.

Schuyler worked four innings, striking out eight. Hilliard went three innings, allowing three hits and two runs, one earned, striking out one. 

Horseheads then faced East Syracuse Minoa in an elimination game, with the winner moving onto the final to face M-E.

It was a scoreless game through three innings, before ESM scored a run in the fourth. They added two runs in the sixth inning. 

Rijo struck out four and allowed five hits in 5 2/3 innings and Reed got the final out. There were only 10 total hits between the two teams in the game. 

Marsh had a double for Horseheads and Hilliard, Pirozzolo and Reed had hits in the game.
