Southern Tier Sports ReportHORSEHEADS — The Corning 10u Little League all-star team fell to Vestal 11-8 in the sectional championships.
After winning their first game on Saturday with a big comeback, CPPLL fell behind again on Sunday and rallied, but came up short.
Vestal led 5-1 after three innings, 7-3 after four and 113 after five innings. CPPLL scored five in the sixth, but that’s as close as they got.
Kamden Dillon had a pair of doubles, three RBI and two runs scored and Tate Williams had two hits and scored a run.
Wyatt Hunter had two hits and Michael Spaulding had two hits, with a double, and scored two runs.
Grayson had two hits, with a double, and scored two runs.
Vaust Fusco had a hit and Ryan had a hit and three RBI. Evelyn Miller had a hit.
Williams struck out four in 4 1/3 innings and Miller threw 1 2/3 innings of shutout ball, allowing a hit and a walk and striking out one.
CPPLL plays at 6 p.m. Monday at Horseheads against Liverpool. The winner advances to the title game, while the loser is eliminated from the tournament. Liverpool beat Lakeshore 13-3 in the other game Sunday.
